"We conquer all."

NAME Volund Decentius RACE Colovian (Imperial)
Sex Male OCCUPATION Emperor-Regent | Warlord
AGE 31 BIRTHSIGN The Warrior EYES Hazel
SKIN Pale HAIR Ebon-brown HEIGHT 5'10" BUILD Stocky, muscular

Other kings and emperor of old, burial places for themselves ordained,But I, Volund, born to the north, place myself on the seat of sundred kingsand I sabbatize from the endless toils which I accepted in battles, and which I endured. For nobody saw my spear at rest, from when the gods called upon me to guide. But remaining vigilant from through the whole span of my life guarding the children of Cyrodiil and the Empire. When I marched bravely in the west and as far as the very frontiers of the mountains.Settling countless trophies all over the earth. The Covenant, Dominion, and Pact bear witness to this. And along with them the traitor and the foe.And now, man looking upon this ancient verse.Reward my campaigns with prayers.

Appearance

Pale skinned and stocky, Volund sports the apperance of a veteran who has never seen the sun. Where men who spend their lives campaigning, darkening their skin in the summers, Volund remains elusive to the darkening. It would be ignorant to think him an abomination for his eyes are harsh hazels that when focus, burrow their way to those they see.Imperial thoroughly, his jaw is strong and angular, and it sits atop a body rife and fit with musculature, spent from days crushing skulls and piercing hearts.

─────◊─────

Standing at the height of five feet and ten inches, Volund is of average height. He often sports monochromatic colors, never enjoying imperial dress and regalia but often sporting simple Cyrodiilic military dress.Only for such tastes to be abandoned in the favor of personalization. He wears now a horned helm of a slain foe, it's serpentine visage is open and would have been venomous had the icon of a dragon sitting atop the plume defined it to favoring the king of the gods.

"When I was taken from this world, it's people still had iron in their blood. Long ages and the lies of the corpse-emperors have corroded our strength, this land is mine. I will build walls that cannot fall, it will be iron within and without once more. Weakness is a choice."

Behavior

On the Surface

Everyone who meets him says he's serious. There's never been a more serious man than Volund. He is harsh and severe, but surprisingly fair. It is a twisted sense of majesty that emanates from him, for he is quick to be severe in the meting out of justice for punishment. Failure is not tolerated nor ever considered. Mercy is granted in the form of a quick death to a foe worthy of it.Time spent with him has labeled many to call him stubborn, prideful, ambitious, and idealistic to the point that they might call him insane. His stubbornness is both admirable and held in contempt, as it has been the decisive factor in winning a battle that couldn't be won only for the bonds that could be formed to be delayed or denied. He is by all means a cynic who bears his pain with courage, he does not rule from a place of love or compassion but rules from iron. Others attribute him as an intimidating man, who's ambitions and arrogance sore highly with the utter danger he is capable of. For a warlord such as him brings nothing but death around them.

─────◊─────

beneath the surface

What a rare thing to go beneath the surface and see someone at their core. It is rare to see it deep within him save for the trusted few. They say he cares, he is fair, and that ability to see his warmth must be earned. He gives everyone a chance. He is a good man who does evil things.Others see that he takes care of his own, he demands much from his followers but grants them much, sharing in their struggles as he fights beside them.
At the deepest level, he is capable of love. A protector, one supports, and patronizes those who have supported him in turn. And that love that he espouses but masks runs so deeply that it contradicts the coldness he shows openly.

"How dare you presume to understand what I have done and what sacrifices I have made. And what I now must suffer. You will never know the depths of my pain, for which I am grateful."

Rumors

Common

rumors that can be heard by anyone

"The Dominus of Spatharia, people say he was borne in Whiterun hold in Skyrim, had a nordic mother, and an imperial father." - Juicy gossip of Lucinia (Lucy) Devillius of Kvatch.

"He's got ambitions to be the Emperor of Cyrodiil, he calls himself the Dominus, if he's wanting to be the Cyrodiilic Emperor, what is he doing? I hear he's been quietly putting various houses in the west under his thumb." - Heard in Belkarth, Craglorn.

"Gods, I pity the man. I may not like him, but i pity him. No father deserves to lose a son. Heard the boy was babe, the babe was attacked in a rebellion, they rebeled against the father, and killed the son in the process." - Heard in Anvil, Gold Coast.

Rare

Rumors that would be heard only by characters in similar circles

"He's employing the barbarians that fucked our empire in the first place. Reachmen are at his court, serving in a regiment in his service, men wearing crimson armor, openly taking their defeated and burning them as ritual sacrifices." - Imperial legionaries in the Heartlands.

"We had him! We had the bastard in our hands before all of this. How the fuck is it that an Imperial soldier then, now a warlord was in our Daggerfall Covenant? He even served alognside us, slept on our soil, and got to see our high king. What the fuck is that?!" - Covenant soldiers deployed in Cyrodiil.

"He could have all the pick of women of good birth and noble name and he chooses to shack himself with a peasant. How disgusting!" - Gossip of an envious lady.

Ultra-rare

Rumors that would not be heard at all and only elucidated by reveal of choice.

"There is nothing but iron within and without. The Dragon-god of time is no king to man. When the elf had enslaved him, the missing fox, the yokudan serpent, and the hero of Cyrodiil had been there in the absence of divine favor. Shor, Sheor, Lhorke, Lorkhaj, Lorkhan, and Shezzar is the god of man."

◊ Emperor-Regent of Cyrodiil - He has staken a claim to the seat of sundred kings, to claim himself the king of kings. It is an attractive claim as it is a Cyrod who claims the seat meant for a cyrodiilic emperor.

◊ Dominus of Spatharia - The seat of his power, the warlord is the lord and master of his realm. All wishing to entreat themselves with him in affairs outside of war, may find themselves visiting his court and dealing with a sovereign lord of Cyrodiil.

◊ Patron - Despite his autocratic rule and bellicose nature, the warlord of Cyrodiil has a treasury built from the successes of his campaigns, allowing for the possibilities of creating splendor and prosperity. A figure wishing for patronage of his art, his trade, or looking to lobby him of his resources will find a potential patron in him.

◊ Commander - It is rare to see an imperial army in Cyrodiil, it is even more rare to see it last in this day and age. The warlord follows his title with vigor and has defied all the odds against him. He is a symbol and figure to rally behind in the name of reuniting and restoring the Empire of Cyrodiil.

Sightings

─────◊─────

Cyrodiil

Cyrodiil is his home. Particularly in the West, Volund, his movement, his dream, and his army are Cyrodiilic. Their presence in Cyrodiil will never be expunged. Though at one point fully invested in the west with their campaigns, slowly they have begun to crept east. It is only a matter of time, that the man himself establishes a demense in the Eastern lands of Cyrodiil.

Western Skyrim

Born in Skryim, despite his emigration to Cyrodiil at a young age. There are quiet bonds that tether him back to Skyrim. It is a combination of his own vision, cultural roots, and fondness for the close bonds forged between himself and the nords of Skyrim that have led him to conclude a permit of persence in the western realm of Skryim. It is minimal but there. Volund has yet to visit the city of Solitude but his name has been brought there in mercantile circles.

Strengths

◊ One-handed: Master
◊ Pyromancy: Master
◊ Willpower: Master
◊ Speech-craft: Adept

Weaknesses

◊ Philistine
◊ Temper
◊ tactless
◊ Draconian

"For though iron can be broken, it's sharp edges can still be used to cause untold harm, and with time and diligence, such fragments can be reforged into something far stronger than once imagined..."

Strengths and weaknesses are relevant and true to all beings, Volund is no exception to that truth. He is strong in his martial prowess and even stronger in his willpower. A growth that had come from a man who started with such a weak will only to become a forceful power in his own right. But his weaknesses remain in his lack of tolerance. He is hostile to those who do not carry their weight, their weight being warriors in his eyes, bad tempered from a checkered history of ill-formed betrayals against him, and tactless in his demeanor. He speaks with care for the sensitivities and speaks scathingly, he will hurt others with his words, and when angered enough punish them so severely, that theirs is nothing left to come back from.

Arrelan Varridius

Centurion of the 3rd cohort previously, Dux of Hosul (Vassal) | Trusted

"Came to my doorstep shouting to me glory to Decentius as you left. Came again and became the tamer of the butchers. Left to become a grandmaster but still maintains the loyalty to the imperial state. Grace and Glory is what you'll be "

Cadmor Bull-Horn

"The World Eater" Centurion of the Iuniores | Pitied

"There was a chance to have been more for you, I have dashed that. You are a monster, I could have pulled you back from that abyss along with all of the clan in my service. I did not. I failed. Now all that remains are broken men. All but two are in prison, howling with a fury hotter than a million stars. Failure is the greatest teacher, but I wonder if what you see in your failure, is the failure of my vision?"

Caius Lavinius

Legionary, courtier, Right-hand man | Respected

"You're a realist, never one to dance around in actions. You do what you're told and we get things done. I can rely upon you to accomplish things and when you do them, all of Cyrodiil rejoices."

Casephona Aionos

Imperial Scribe | Paternally Protective of

"Too young to be fighting. Far to young."

Caterina Aionos

Retired Centurion of the 8th cohort, Courtier | Respected

"You came into responsibility in a difficult time to manage. A coup, a blow to which I could not shield, but you could. You did your best, for that I am grateful."

Cornelia Calpurnius

Praefect , 5th Legion (Spatharia) | Neutral

"Indispensable as a supplier, competent administrator of logistics, tried and true in battle, the annals of victories and defeats occurred under your name, remain enough to be satisfactory for a commander."

Decortius Decurio

Prior of Veylin | Appreciated

"Morally superior to us, but unwilling to condemn our evils openly. The man works within the system, places himself in service to his Empire and his people, without needing a legionaries' sword. That's a rare thing. He desires to negotiate where I would be more satisfied with obliteration. It is why I will not tell him that I appreciate his advice often. Rather, I would listen to his words, and hear him. Too often is the perception of pragmatism being the the obliteration of the foe, when accord may be reached with words. Had he not been of the church, I would have considered the greatest Herald."

Eva Bishop

Breton Noblewoman , "The Healer" | Neutral

"When you came to Spatharia, I thought for a moment it would be a procurement of ransom. Instead, I got a woman who wanted to heal refugees, regardless of affiliations. Willing to be forsaken of her ties and codes of home, to remain true to her purpose. I am watching."

Finnidor Giordant

Emissary turned aide | Appreciated

"Finnidor, your open humanity and lack of cynicism so plaguing my own court and warriors is a welcome addition. Yet you do not detest us. I enjoy you."

Indahlia Accasia Vantius (Dahlia)

Noblewoman turned Legionary | Respected

"When the Eastern girl migrated to Spatharia to create for herself a home, she was brought to the gates, and made a soldier. It was not by choice, but when duty was thrusted upon her, did she accept the charge all the same. It is why I shall look after her."

Kaecilius Lucius Corin

Legate of the Fifth Legion | Loved

"O' Kaecilius, most loyal son of Cyrodiil. Eldest of my veteran warriors and my legacy lacking flesh but bonded thicker than blood.

Lambert Arctus

"One of the two mercenaries" | Respected

"I will never like a mercenary. A paid soldier to fight for his own self-interest brings a rage in me unlike no other. But Lambert, I cannot say I dislike you. You have never proven yourself a problem to me and have done everything I have asked. That alone is enough for me to say you have my respect."

Lucianna Viotara Lonusiso

Noblewoman turned legionary | Respected

"When we first met, the idea of House Lonusiso sounded vague. But when it came to your entry into my service, you took yourself as a warrior without demanding rank or notation. That's a vindication of purity."

Lucius Parthax

Bucellarian | Pitied

"A bumbling fool, broken by the desert. Yagahai is the graveyard of the Legion. Time spent in Spatharia has been used to give you a taste of life outside the war. Now, it is time to fix the broken thing, and remove the corrosion of his strength. He will be Iron."

Mariana Nautius

Domina | Lover

"Mariana you are my love. Nothing will ever change that. Flaws and blemishes upon all. I still and shall always be in love with you. I never thought I'd find love. I didn't expect it with you of all people either. But you weathered my storms with me, bore through with me at my nadir. You comforted me, waited for me, and put yourself out there for me. Now my sun rises and I can't see it without you there. If I ever give up on this dream of mine, of rebuilding our home, spending the rest my days in exile. It wouldn't be such a bitter pill with you there."

Marius Vatallion

"Restored" Seniore | Respected

"Marius... You are and were many things. Impulsive, spirited, kind, cold, and so much more. I don't know whether I should have ever given you responsibilities that can be borne. You act with good intentions but come to be selfish in your own regards. I don't hate you though for that. You weren't a bad soul. You weren't disloyal but you've lost your way.You acted on impulses and it cost much. Our past history makes things between us complicated. We could blame others for the past but there's a point that it's our choice to advance together. I look at you and I will give you a credit where it is due. You came back. I don't like deserters, the only thing I find them needing is a noose and a tree but I took you back. I do not regret that and I will not at all.More growth is needed. Traces of bloodthirstiness with a craving for affection dominate your personality. "

Ortollus Varridius

Ward | Paternally Protective of

"Ortollus... You are the son I never had. Where Arrelan gives his time to his course and war. I find myself having you as my ward and ultimately a legacy without the flesh and blood. I look at you and I see the next generation that will pick up where mine leave off. When we go hunting together, when we talk, I'm often reminded of my days of hope. I'm often reminded of my earlier days where I was not the man in charge but the one who gave voluntary ideas.I laugh at this but with fondness. If I were to pick Arrelan's successor. It is you I want in his seat."

Revikus-Adi

First-Sword of the Seniores | Cherished

"Truth be told, I do not spent enough time training with this man, I do not spend enough time, warranting love and affection from him as I would bestow onto him. The tasks I pursue, the vision, he helps me to accomplish what I see. The dream, the restoration, the reunification, and the reconquering of the Empire, bit by bit, is thanks to his service. Ever the model of a man, I could write a book of his deeds and it would only be a piece of my respect for him. In Revikus, I am given my sword, in Revikus, I am given the chance to display that I am able to take more than just Colovians and Nibenese, in Revikus, I am given brotherhood again."

Ulrik Dragonsbane

Imperial Champion - Seniore | Cherished

"There had been a time where I ordered you to hack apart a young man, for what he had done. It was no easy work, the flock of men that had joined you, were sickened by it. I know it was no easy feat, but you had shown yourself willing, loyal, and competent in fighting."

Valethyne Feldren

Falliable "Sister" | Protected

"By the gods, you're the person I've known the longest that is still in my life. I can't believe it Vale. I came in as a younger man trying to set you up with another and it worked, for you then and I to be close family. Then I feel like I've got a dark skinned boy as an heir of legacy. For a long time I have held his death against you.For though he wasn't mine, I was willing to raise him as my own. The grudge of old is gone and I see you as still my sister. I don't like the idea of losing you nor do I want any other man to get in your pants again. You keep getting the wrong kind of men and as your brother I will do everything in my power to keep you safe."

Vanitus Pullo

Decurion of the 2nd Cataphract | Respected

"Vanitus, you came in when I was dying! A plague befell my camp at Gratian and there you were with your horsearchers. Pledging yourself, fighting with us, and holding the line. When I am hit and reminded of shattering instance of loss, you are there to restore my confidence. And now you are here as a valued man at my war-council. I will be party to watching your lance bore your way through any wall barring us."

Wulfhart Windtalker

Fellow of Hell | Protected

"No one else survives going into Coldharbour and coming back alive. Not only did we survive. But we went in , comeback, and helped save me. I will fight to the death for you."

Hello there. Thank you for taking the time to read my carrd on Volund Decentius. My oldest character since 2015 and my first rp character.I work in the biopharmaceutical industry and am a student trying to go for a master's program meaning I've got my hands filled with work and studying. I run a guild on top of that has been active since 2017. We're pretty old and I've grown up with eso as my primary mmo.I write typically in multi-paragraph posts and enjoy being given the same level of writing in turn. I enjoy writing and watching as characters grow over time with driven stories involving interaction. So I offer Volund as a candidate to interact with to you the reader. If you're interested in writing with my character Volund, I have a few requests. I would like for there to be communication on availability, roleplay limits, and an interest check. If a peculiar theme is not there, feel free to reach out and ask me about it.
